Zinc Oxide Sport Tape Rayon

A standard item in well-stocked first aid kits and in sports physiotherapy treatment bags, zinc oxide tape is used to support injured ligaments and muscles.zinc oxide sport tape rayon Its rigidity and strong adhesive makes it ideal for stabilising and immobilising the injury site. It is also useful for holding pads or bandages next to the skin and is often worn for long periods of time (up to seven days) as it is breathable and will not blister the skin.

The premium version of this tape is Rayon coated which increases the strength and elasticity of the material, meaning it can take more pressure before breaking. It is also waterproof and sweat resistant which makes it a very durable product suitable for use in sports & physical activity.

Like all tapes, zinc oxide sport tape rayon needs correct preparation of the skin for reliable sticking. The skin should be clean, dry and free from any oils or creams as this will help the tape to adhere more effectively. If possible, the area should also be hair-free as this will interfere with the adhesive and can cause friction which may lead to a more painful removal of the tape. It is usually best to apply the tape strip-by-strip, building up a layer of the tape over the skin and not wrapping it tightly or repeatedly around limbs. This is because a tight tape can restrict blood flow to the area and therefore prevent healing.

The most common application of the zinc oxide sports tape is to prevent injuries and support joints, particularly those in vigorous activities and sport such as football and rugby. It can also be applied preventatively to areas prone to rubbing and friction such as the wrists or fingers which are particularly susceptible to blistering and calluses.

Zinc oxide tape is also a very effective strapping tape in sports and physiotherapy as it has the capacity to limit movement to injured limbs and joints, for example an ankle sprain. It is also used in conjunction with a dressing retention tape, such as Sterotape Dressing Retention Tape, to tap a displaced patella to treat Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome.

Kinesiology tape, or KT Tape, is another very popular product that is often found in sports and physiotherapy settings. It has a slightly different construction to standard athletic tape and is designed to lift the top layers of skin when applied, creating a microscopic space between the skin and tissues underneath which may improve circulation and reduce pain symptoms.

Rigid kinesiology tapes are latex free and designed for multi-day wear to provide support throughout a workout. They are available in various sizes and can be cut into strips to target specific muscles or body parts.
